Study Abroad

For many years AAUCA has conducted study abroad/familiarization programmes for students at its fraternal institutes attending the degree courses …students completing English Language studies and for in-work Executive attendees of its development training. As importantly AAUCA has also maintained an on-going fraternal process of assisting universities and colleges around the world in planning for their students, faculty and staff to join and be part of AAUCA study abroad programmes.

In fact during recent years several institutions have requested AAUCA to conduct these programmes on their behalf…and success has piled upon success as AAUCA (unlike commercial organisations) planned, and brought to fruition study abroad tours tailor-made for individual student bodies. AAUCA familiarization tours and study Abroad programmes for 2010 are in progress.

In the meantime for 2010, Senior officers of AAUCA have already planned for and intend to lead groups of students, and parties of Executives, to Athens, Greece (spring break and early summer), Oxford and London, The U.K. (spring break and summer), South East Asia [Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and the Kingdom of Thailand (Bangkok)]. Individual students …or in-work Executives who are in line for expatriate positions… who are interested in joining any of these overseas trips should contact AAUCA as early as possible.

In addition department chairpersons at any University wherein groups of students might benefit from the intense experience of our planned overseas visits may contact AAUCA for further details.

As important …groups of students from AAUCA fraternal institutes are visiting our British and American university sites during the summer of 2010. Those visiting San Diego California are anticipated to be from Europe the Middle East and Asia . Those visiting Oxford and London in England will represent nations all over the globe.

AAUCA has found …by dint of personal interviews with students, faculty and senior administration …that American and British students wishing to combine study on site … with a tour\holiday… inevitably choose a flexible programme which challenges their intellect, includes coursework that links to their particular degree/academic  interests…and caters to their financial realities.

Therefore AAUCA responded to university requests by working with seasoned, reputable, government-bonded tour experts to create (almost from scratch) programmes that were flexible enough to fit into each university’s academic calendar, and ensured each participant an enjoyable, exciting study abroad experience during a very important time of their lives.

To this end, in concert with the intent of divisional deans at the university concerned, AAUCA incorporates a meaningful period of degree-level study led and taught by distinguished faculty.

AAUCA specializes in arranging programmes of study for groups of students to suit the specific needs of institutions and/or faculty. While visits and tours shown as samples in these web pages may tend to focus on summer trips …it should be remembered that AAUCA does arrange familarization visits – upon request – at any time throughout the year. Special group rates apply.

Transfer of Credit

At the end of the study abroad period AAUCA causes an unofficial transcript to be issued to each student attendee, which is specifically intended for use at a student’s home institution.

The transcript may be issued by the AAUCA ‘ground team’ or by the administration centre in Oxford or in the United States (contact AAUCA Administration for more details). It will list the courses taken, credit hours, and grades received. This transcript, authorized by AAUCA serves as the recommendation for transfer of credit.

Students are responsible for making transfer credit arrangements at their home institutions. Each course should be approved in advance by the the students own institution. AAUCA will co-operate with any institution which has special requirements or procedures.
