Language Studies
Language Course Organization Brief Details
In both San Diego and Oxford AAUCA’s English courses are set up on a one-month module basis. Succinctly AAUCA offers multiples of month-long modules of intensive English (each increasing in skill level), or a, pre-planned, special three to six month programme of English studies.
General English proficiency courses, called English Language Skills series, are prepared for a specific ability level: beginner, intermediate or advanced. Each student takes the modules appropriate to his/her current ability- and goals.

Learning Materials
All students attending AAUCA English courses can expect to receive all necessary textbooks, learning support materials, test papers, etc. upon arrival at the centre of choice. In many instances – for the teaching of English to specific students – AAUCA faculty and staff have found it both very practical and very cost effective (especially for the students) to use bound compilations of teaching notes produced by our own faculty. These are used in place of more expensive textbooks with a financial arrangement made to cover royalties to the faculty authors.
Ancillary Resource Centres for Language Studies
In both Oxford and San Diego AAUCA has traditionally maintained a small Resource Centre at its offices for use by its enrolled language students. To further serve AAUCA students’ needs in developing their learning/research activities, the AAUCA California and Oxford facilities are in close proximity to the libraries of the University of Oxford and the Universities of San Diego and the University of California, San Diego …which collectively house probably the finest combined university library collections in each country. In addition, in Southern California… San Diego State University, Point Loma Nazarene College, National University etc. all have extensive library facilities available. The Oxfordshire County Library System, and the San Diego City and County library systems, as well as those of the myriad public colleges and universities in the immediate area are also readily accessible to all AAUCA students.
In the fraternal reciprocity that exists between academic entities, most universities will allow other students to use their facilities should they so wish. AAUCA staff ensure that – upon arrival and completion of all necessary registration formalities, each student has a valid “Friends of the Library” card for the major university libraries in the immediate vicinity.
Certificates of Completion Diploma or Honours Diploma
As part of our system all students successfully completing any of our English programmes receive – relevant to the level/module undertaken – either a Certificate, Diploma or Honours Diploma of completion. These are accompanied by detailed (sealed) transcripts from the centre coordinator/registrar – countersigned/stamped by our offices – to identify course segments satisfactorily completed.
